Free Parking at UF Football Games: The Honest Version

We sell paid parking, so read this knowing that. UF does not guarantee a free space on gameday. Its unreserved lots are first-come and, in UF's words, fill up quickly.

What UF says

UF Athletics' football parking page is blunt: "Public parking lots are very limited" around the stadium. The lots that are not reserved are first-come, first-served, and in UF's words fill up quickly. That is the entire official free-parking story - anyone promising you a specific reliably-free lot at kickoff time is describing a lot that filled at breakfast.

The rules that bite

• UF's page says parking on sidewalks is not permitted and that vehicles doing so are at risk of being towed.
• The road closures start three and a half hours before kickoff and five hours for parts of campus, so even a free space is worthless if you cannot reach it.

The closest thing to free: sponsor-covered $1 spots

There is no free space near the Swamp on gameday. There are a few $1 ones. When a local business sponsors a game, it pays for a handful of Parkey driveway spots and fans book them for about a dollar. SEI Wireless covered spots for the opener against FAU, and dollar spots ran again for Campbell.

Each game's dollar spots show up in Parkey at the sponsored price as they are locked in, and we post them on Instagram that week. They are reserved like any other booking, so the space is yours when you arrive.

Cheap-and-far beats free-but-gone

Is there $1 parking for Gators games?
